Prozium shots to start in a few years

Post by Thingy on Tue Dec 08, 2009 11:04 pm

Well, lookie there, seems mr obama wasnt the nice guy we all thought he was. Now he and our ''oh so beloved'' european governments (hell, maybe even the EU) are trying to pass a treaty that will make any officer of the law capable of stopping you, searching your hard drive and ripping out anything that looks pirated. Without any warrant or solid proof, he just needs to accuse you of piracy and voila your hard drive is a few files lighter. The treaty will be called ''ACTA''. Now, i'm against pirates and want an effective system against piracy that wont affect us half time pirates (and non pirates)too much, but this is getting retarded.

If they manage to pass this law, i'm going to join the nearest anti ACTA riot/protest. Oh, and we'll probably be getting our prozium shots very shortly after the treaty is passed

(this is prozium, by the way http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=prozium)

Yep, better start building that moon base, MNIM, they're coming for your hard drive. And i'm really starting to understand how you're thinking, jaymz. Your government really is retarded...

I SAW THAT MOVIE!!! i quite liked it too, was well done. and i thought that act was already in effect. oh well, even if it were to happen in canada, none of our officials would bother enforcing it, heck, they don't even enforce the no cell phone use while driving law.

Prozium, LOL

Well, it's not like pirating is good.

And with your philosophy, stealing is alright, only if you do it sometimes.

You and I both know that's wrong.

Just because everyone does something, that doesn't mean that it's right.

Moral laws cannot be set by the masses.

People are corrupt, and in this system, will always be corrupt.

If the world doesn't follow a strict moral code, the same conflicts will exist, and the earth will continue to be a place of turmoil.

Mankind cannot rule itself and be at peace.

We have history as our proof for that fact.

The question is: Will you repeat history, or will you become something better?

Yes. Pirating is an industry killer in it's purest form. But i meant people who pirate something to have a look at it, you know, like a demo that doesnt give you the best level, but the whole picture. That way you can decide wether you want it or not. If you think it's good, you pay for the real deal and delete the game off your hard drive. If you think it's crap, you delete it off your hard drive. But i almost never do that, just sometimes when i'm really unsure about a game. I also download old games because the creator either doesnt exist anymore or wouldnt get any money from me buying it off, let's say, amazon.

@ M Well, yeah, it's not very likely that it will happen. The government isnt completely retarded, they know half the country would riot if the treaty was signed. But if some anti miracle happened and the treaty was signed, we'd be quite screwed...

Yes... That's true... But i know some that do, and they shouldnt be affected by laws like this one. And the biggest problem here is that this law would rip the freedom right out of every western country that accepts it. You dont have to be a pirate to lose a few files that look pirated, or a backup CD. And if you're found with pirated files 3 time, you're going to jail.

But like emmy said, it's very unlikely to happen.

If worse comes to worse, he can always put a high powered magnet near his harddrive and just wipe it clean.

This law will never pass, and if it is, by some slim chance, there will be riots or it just won't be enforced. Pirates will also just find ways around it anyway.. That's why they are called pirates!

Wait, that's why? I thought it was because they had black beards, sailed the oceans searching for rich server ships and had eye patches. And said ARRRR alot...

And yes, but still, the fact that they're even considering it is frakking retarded.

You see... As they have encrypted hard drives, you can also setup an 7zip AES256 encrypted file, an RAR encryption, an .kgb encryption and burn the resulting file in a CD or a DVD and bury it...

The magnet tactic is pretty falible, cause they'll know you made on porpuse and will ask your ISP for pirated files...

You could is use someone else pc to store those files... and use that pc as a fileserver... Make sure you use a linux server distro on it, cause most of them wont know what to do without a GUI... and Linux is pretty hard...

not quite. i highly doubt they will be able to break through 256b encoding which is essentially even safer than the stuff the American government has. Besides that, hacking into it would take more than two weeks. And then they'd still have the wrong file.

indeed. YARRRR.

which doesn't tell them anything considering those pass your isp in small jumbled packets of about 4mb. millions of them.

besides that, it ain't proof, considering there's something as encrypted data traffic, but more importantly, wifi hacking.

Actually it can help... And only an indication that you accessed site like TPB or the btjunkie will be enough to start building up a case against you...

An unlawful case yes. Proving I drive a car doesn't prove i drove it with 150 kmh either. Besides that, the downloads don't actually come from tpb.

But if you download the .torrent file from TPB, it will give them indications that you, at least, tryied to make a download of it... and there they can check the content of the torrent (via IP tracking and DNS tracking and stuff)...
