Fort Hood Shootup

Post by darkjedi on Sat Nov 07, 2009 1:18 am

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,572305,00.html

A mental health doctor loses it and goes on a rampage. Ironic, isn't it?

I'm so sick of these kind of things happening. All of those innocent people dead.

I wish that all of this violence in this world would just stop! But of course it won't for now.

ah yes. i can't believe i didn't think to post this. quite tragic. its considered the largest shoot out on an american base in american history. that type of pressure os bad for some people, he was about to be shipped out and that probably got to the guy. it's a weird situation, because i feel sorry for the guy who did the shooting, i also feel sorry for the people that just lost family members because of this. it is a weird situation

Yeah!

I don't know what they're going to do to him though.

I mean, they haven't had a military execution in over 50 years. (i think)

They just might end up breaking their streak, and give him firing squad.

I dont think so... The guy clearly has some serious mental issues, he'll probably just go to the looney house. It's a real tragedy, i dont think anyone came out of it as a bad or good guy.

And this is why I hate this country. Knowing what happened here, you then think back to this: If we didn't participate in this stupid war, this wouldn't have happened...

Well, humans, especially soldiers, are a renewable resource. I dont think the leaders, especially bush, really care much about the soldiers behind the numbers.

Then Bush is a heartless wretch that needs to get shot in ever non-vital part of his body. These are innocent people who go off to fight a stupid war that started over something that was quite heartwrenching, but we have lost, or already lost, WAY more people in this war than the Two Towers.

Well, that's true for the iraq part, but afghanistan is a completely different thing. Those people might have a real chance at freedom now that the taliban have been driven out. The iraq war on the other hand was caused by pure greed. They wanted the oil, iraq doesnt want to give the US the oil cheaply, US takes the oil by force. Just proves how far we've come morally in the last 2000 years.

I would also like to direct attention to the 2nd quote in my sig... I believe this proves quite true.

And your right, but We should pull out forces in Iraq, and get those soldier's home, and then start helping the Afghani's more.

I think that's obama's plan. Get the soldiers out of iraq and on to afghanistan. But it hasnt been completely wasted though... They've got some level of democracy, human rights and their communications infrastructure is being improved. They didnt have any of that stuff before the invasion.

Well he was a soldier in a huge fort with tanks, helicopters and every small arm used by the US army... But sure, let's say it was because he was allowed to have an automatic weapon. It's probably the reason for most other shootings and alot of the murders though.

It was a real damn shame this happened. That guy definitely needs help. They shouldn't execute him; it's just wrong, unless to put him out of his misery.

well i doubt he was using one of those guns as he was phychrist [not sure how to spell it] and they dont generally get acess to weapons in the same way as a proper solidier would

He only deserves to be executed if you believe in capital punishment.

But yes, it is a strange phenomenon. I suppose because some people have already done it in the US, going on a shooting rampage is seen as a slightly more regular way out than in other Western countries.

Re: Fort Hood Shootup

as for the afghanistan bit, we could definitely use all the support possible. The canadian government and people are getting very tired and weary of this war, and with the pull out date having been pushed back several times already, the public may not let our troops stay in that war much longer, and we definitely need to be there longer. now i know other countries re involved, but i do believe most of the support is canadian, and if we pull out, its over. maybe not the next day, but give it a few years, maybe a decade and the things will be as they used to before, and all that we've worked for will have been lost. Fortunately, for it being an 8 year war, we haven't lost many people, i think it's little over 200 now, but i don't know for certain. definitely much better then the irag war where over 10,000 have been lost.

179 British troops killed in Iraq, 203 in Afghanistan. There's no way 10,000 Western troops have died in Iraq, so I guess you're talking about Iraqis.

Canada is important, but we're kidding ourselves if the whole thing doesn't rely on America. I think there are ten times as many American troops in Afghanistan than British, and that there are more British than Canadians

Well, we're there too. You know, doing... stuff... Like running around waving our flag in people's faces... We've been quite lucky, i think we've only got 2 or 3 dead in the entire war. Or it could be more about not doing anything important more than luck.

Well, the government seems to be looking into it though, they've been getting some criticism for letting our forces just stand there without any action.
